*TECH TALK PASS HOLDERS HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO PLATINUM SESSIONS 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm THE POWER OF A PERSONAL VISION TO DRIVE INNOVATION Grace Hopper once said, “The most dangerous phrase in language is: We’ve always done it this way.“ Never has this been more true. In this age of rapid technological advancement, thoughtful leadership is needed to serve external customers with products and services they will need, before they even know they need them. Innovation used to be in the hands of the ‘experts’ but today it requires everyone to think about the future with unbounded imagination, creativity, and curiosity. In this session you will find out how to create your personal vision of the future, to engage others in an exciting mission to grow the business over the long-term, and advance purpose and meaning for all. You will walk away with:
2:00 pm – 2:30 pm THE HUMAN SIDE OF HIRING When it comes to the the impact of technology on recruiting, it seems that job seekers have seriously mixed emotions. According to a recent survey conducted on behalf of Indeed, 58% of people agree that technology makes it easier to apply for a job — but 52% also say technology makes the recruiting process more isolating and impersonal. There’s no doubt that technology will continue to transform hiring as we move into the future. So as recruiters become increasingly dependent on software and algorithms in the hiring process, how can we be sure that we are using these new tools wisely, and in a way that leads to a positive experience for candidates?

11:30 pm – 12:15 pm ENTERPRISE STREAM HACKATHONS AS AN INNOVATION TOOL FOR LARGE ENTERPRISES Contrary to popular belief, hackathons aren’t just for start-ups. For large organizations in particular, hackathons can be adapted to greatly accelerate the process of digital transformation. They are less about designing new products and more about “hacking” away at old processes and ways of working. More and more large businesses are employing the same start-up principles to break through organizational inertia and instill more innovation-driven cultures putting their employees at the centre of their organizations and giving them a start-up experience. In this session, Aurélie Wen of Agorize will teach you everything you need to know about hackathons, how to build one and how HR can utilize this powerful innovation tool to solve all kinds of business and people-related challenges. 11:30 pm – 12:15 pm SCALE-UP STREAM DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN TECH: HOW INNOVATIVE COMPANIES COMBAT UNCONSCIOUS HIRING BIAS Diversity and inclusion is one of the biggest challenges facing the tech industry today - from the talent pipeline to products and services. Martin Hauck, former Head of Talent at StackAdapt and Toronto D&I trailblazer, decided to take the reins and tackle this issue by making the recruiting process more inclusive with the help of creating StackAdapt’s Unbiasify tool. Unbiasify is a free, open-source Google Chrome extension that removes a candidate's profile photo and name on social networks with the end goal of eliminating any unconscious bias that can potentially tarnish the recruitment process such as bias towards or against specific age, race, gender, or appearance. However, despite solving a number of common recruiting challenges, Unbiasify also created a set of whole other issues. And, Martin Hauck is here to tell us all about it! Under discussion:

Companies who want to lead a digital transformation need strong leadership, agility, and a forward-looking vision. Putting digital first and understanding the role digital plays in your business is key to becoming a successful leader regardless of what area of business you are in. We often think about digital transformation as something tackled by IT, Marketing and C-suite. However, HR can be and should be a key enabler of digital transformation. It’s people, after all, rather than technology, that drive change. So how do HR and business leaders utilise this critical people function for this purpose? This panel has the answers.
